Its true - Quark laid off 25% employees

It happened. If you are affected (both in and out) care to add details?

25% of the employees to let go

My fears have come true. Its true.

1. Approximately 100 employees will be laid off on May 19 2009 all across the globe. 
2. Every department is going to have an impact - legal, support, sales and of course engineering
3. Swiss office to close.
4. Majority of them will be from lowest ranks.
5. None from Senior Management or even middle management (except may be 2).
   
6. QuarkXPress engineering will be completely moved to India.
   
7. Bet is on a completely new product scheduled to launch soon and an enterprise product that has been in market for years with new polish.
   

I hope smart, hardworking and those who questions bad decisions are not affected. And last but not the least, investors get their money (or whatever will be left) back in time.

Introduction

Over the years users have speculated Quark's death. Although every once in a while somebody hopes that competition is good for high quality low cost product. 

Alas it wont be so. Quark is on its way to change of hands (if stars align properly) or worst yet complete shutdown.

This blog's goal is to keep all those who still cares about Quark updated. Last time I checked graph was going down steeply and looks like a major event is in the works.
